YOUR SON, ERDAL
“Your Son, Erdal” is a documentary film that tells the life story of high school student Erdal Eren, who was executed by the military junta following the 1980 coup d’état in Turkey. The film explores his life in the context of the political and social turmoil of the era.
Directed and editing by me and produced by the Social Research Foundation (SAV), the film features interviews conducted by Tevfik Taş and music composed by Ayşe Tütüncü. It was completed in 2010.
In addition to Erdal Eren’s trial and execution, the documentary also portrays:
Sinan Suner, a university student shot dead by a police officer,
Zekeriya Önge, a soldier allegedly shot with Eren’s pistol during a protest,
And Ercan Koca, who died under torture after being detained for hanging a banner protesting Eren’s execution..
